There are so many types of carpets, but they can easily get messy if you drop food or other types of liquids which might stain them. The other option is hardwood flooring. Wood flooring is probably the most beautiful type of flooring you could get. There are many types of expensive rewoods which will make your floor look beautiful, but the prices will vary greatly, and will be pretty expensive depending on what you go with.
Bamboo is a favorite, and should be used when you want a light feel to the home. Bamboo has a creamy color to it, and can be as low as 2 dollar per square foot when buying from a company online. The natural colors of the wood with a clear finish is whats going to really stand out, so just make sure that you pick something that will fit the color and overall decor of your home.
